John Alayo of Boy Scout Troop 520 in Redmond earned his Eagle Scout Award.

For John’s Eagle Scout project, he collected donations of LEGO in addition to recycling Christmas trees for donations to purchase LEGO Mind Storm Robotics. With the donations John set up a LEGO and Robotics play area at Casa Hogar Orphanage in Mexico. He hosted a “LEGO and Robotics Night” where the younger kids built Legos and the older kids learned to program.

John’s scouting adventures include Ross Lake 50-mile paddling trip, Mt. Rainier Wonderland Trail 50-mile backpack, Salmon River rafting in Idaho, and summer camps. John’s scouting career culminated in a 95-mile trek to the summit of Mt. Baldy at Philmont Ranch in New Mexico.

John is a senior at International Community School and will study Electrical Engineering at Gonzaga University next fall.
