Redwood Theatre presents two fundraising events for its upcoming 2011 season.
“The Rat Pack Cabaret” runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Oct. 1-9. Redwood Theatre teams up with The Cabaret Laboratory, Jeannette d’Armand, Kelly Willis and Lola Productions to present a “Rat Pack” inspired evening of classic American standards, with music direction by Todd Hulet.

Redmond’s Old Fire House (OFH) Teen Center, long famous for its all-ages rock concerts, now features a Weird Instrument Club, dedicated to adventurous music-making.
The club has been meeting Thursday evenings throughout the summer at 16510 NE 79th St. and plans to continue through the fall. There’s no fee to join and all local teens are welcome.
The Redmond Reporter, Redmond Town Center and Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas co-hosted a “Women in Business” networking event Sept. 14 at the Gold Class Cinemas.

The Day of Service featured volunteers working at other Redmond open spaces, including removing invasive plants and cleanup at Ferrel-McWhirter Park and at the Redmond Watershed preserve. In addition, about 45 volunteers prepared the South Field at 60 Acres Park for the Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association.
Volunteers are needed in Redmond to help count the number of people who walk or bike to their destinations.
The information gathered this fall will be used to track progress toward the state’s goal of increasing bicycling and walking in Washington and reducing the number of vehicle miles driven.

Shane Lynch, the executive chef at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Kirkland, made a recent guest appearance at the Redmond Saturday Market.
Lynch, 28, has been at Evergreen since the fall of 2008. According to a press release, “he has transformed Evergreen’s hospital food into talked-about fare both for patients and employees. Since his arrival, business at the hospital’s Images Cafe have increased 25 percent.”
The Girls Unlimited conference, a program to empower and inspire teen girls in Redmond, will take place from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Redmond Senior Center, 8703 160th Ave. NE.
