Over the next two decades, the number of people over the age of 65 in Redmond will increase two-fold, accounting for nearly 20 percent of the population. The demand for senior care is escalating. To address the needs of this population, Nurse Next Door, one of North America’s fastest growing home care providers, has launched an individually owned and operated Redmond location that will service the greater King County Eastside area.

Nurse Next Door is prepared to meet the massive challenge of caring for a generation of seniors with a care model unparalleled in the industry.

“The majority of senior care today is the same as it was decades ago, task-based and clinical,” said Nurse Next Redmond owner Michael Wegmann. “Nurse Next Door believes that it’s about caring, not just health care and so we tailor care around all of a client’s needs that include emotional and psychological needs. It’s about helping seniors celebrate aging.”

The new Nurse Next Door King County franchise is locally owned and operated by first-time entrepreneurs Michael Wegmann and his wife, Cris Wegmann. Both left lucrative careers with international corporations to bring Nurse Next Door to King County Eastside. They were drawn to the home care industry after personal experiences with family caregiving.

“We saw the need for a lively home care brand in Washington that would set a new bar for senior care,” said Cris Wegmann. “We address the unspoken needs of clients by asking what they used to love doing but no longer do. We uncover past hobbies and passions, like golfing, even if it’s just in their living room with a putting green. This is the type of care that truly makes a difference in a seniors’ life.”

Nurse Next Door was recently featured on CNBC’s Nightly Business Report in a segment that discussed long-term care options for American’s and the shift toward home-based care. The new local branch will alleviate the burdens placed on existing care options by providing care from clients’ homes.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing such a unique success model to our community and service our aging population” added Wegmann. “We are not only addressing the needs of seniors, we are also creating jobs and contributing to the local economy — something I’m tremendously proud of.”

Nurse Next Door’s new Redmond office offers a full spectrum of in-home care services ranging from a few hours-per-week of caring companionship to around-the-clock care from a registered nurse.
