In January, thousands of Gold’s Gym members from across the country enrolled in the Gold’s Gym Challenge, which has evolved into one of the world’s largest body transformation programs — giving individuals the ability to change their lives in just 12 weeks. Gold’s Gym Redmond members claimed seven of the 30 national winner spots, representing the highest number of winners from any single team.

Throughout the three-month span of the challenge, participants from Gold’s Gym Northwest (Bothell, Redmond, Issaquah) worked with Gold’s Gym trainers and/or on their own to transform their lives, while also competing to win cash prizes totaling $100,000 — provided in part by sponsors Met-RX, Power Crunch and Microsoft. The results were astounding, with the seven winners shedding a combined estimated total of 228 pounds and 91 inches alone.

“When we learned that Gold’s Gym Northwest had the most national winners across the country, we could not have been more proud for the role we played in their success,” said John Hamilton, owner of Gold’s Gym Northwest. “Whether you’re looking to shape up to set an example for your children, or simply want to look and feel great, we truly believe that the Gold’s Gym Challenge will get you there. The challenge isn’t just about building better bodies; it’s about building better lives.”

Following the conclusion of the 12-week challenge, Gold’s Gym locations from around the country submitted their top male and female success stories in the following age categories: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus. A national panel then convened for several days to review thousands of local winners:

Johnelle Burnet (Issaquah): First place in the 18-29 age category, and lost 49 pounds and 22 inches – $6,500 prize

Annette Anderson (Issaquah): First place in the 50-59 age category, and lost 17 pounds and 13 inches – $6,500 prize

Josh Myers (Redmond): Second place in the 30-39 age category, and lost 44 pounds and 16 inches – $2,500 prize

David Ross (Redmond): Second place in the 60-plus age category, and lost 23 pounds and eight inches – $2,500 prize

Steve Ewart (Redmond): Third place in the 50-59 age category, and lost 39 pounds and 14 inches – $1,000 prize

Howard Robinson (Redmond): Third place in the 40-49 age category, and 31 pounds and eight inches – $1,000 prize

John Marshall (Redmond): Third place in 18-29 age category, and lost 25 pounds and 10 inches – $1,000 prize

Winners were chosen based on total body transformations including the following criteria: before and after photos, amount of weight lost, muscle tone, inches lost, percentage of body weight lost and personal testimonials.
