A benefit dinner and auction in support of a Pushing Boundaries client, Timothy Knapp, and his mother Lee Knapp will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Redmond Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 11440 Avondale Rd. NE.
It is hoped that the event will raise $10,000 for a new, wheelchair-accessible van for the Knapp family.
In 1986, when Timothy was 21, he suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident. He comes to Redmond’s Pushing Boundaries, a non-profit organization that provides intensive exercise therapy for people with paralysis, twice a week.
Lee was recently in a serious car accident that left her with two broken ribs, a badly bruised face and body and a totaled vehicle.
“She is a tough lady and will recover from her injuries, but her 1989 wheelchair-accessible van will not — and without it, she is no longer able to care for her son,” explained Shawna Hanson, events and public relations coordinator for Pushing Boundaries. “The insurance money she received was not enough to cover the costs of purchasing a new, wheelchair-accessible van,” said Hanson.
The benefit event for Timothy and Lee Knapp is open to the public. Tickets are $10 to be paid at the door. To attend the event or make a donation for the Knapp family, contact the Eagles at (425) 885-3324.
