Evergreen Hospital Medical Center announced today that it has joined the Spirit of Women network, a coalition of health care providers and hospitals focused on promoting women’s health, education and community awareness. Evergreen is the only Spirit of Women partner in Washington.
According to a press release, Evergreen joined the group because women make the majority of health care decisions for their families. The goal is to help women make positive changes in their lives and those of their family members by emphasizing their total well-being – mind, body and spirit. Evergreen will support them with educational information presented in a relaxed and entertaining venues.
Tanya Abreu, president of the Spirit of Women, visited Evergreen Jan. 21 for the announcement at a launch celebration. The highlight of the launch party was the premiere of Evergreen’s “Day of Dance” video. The video features Evergreen employees and volunteers moving to music throughout the Kirkland hospital.
The humorous production will be shown at the Day of Dance party, to be held from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th Street SW, Lynnwood.
Molly Shen of KOMO Television will be the celebrity emcee. KOMO and Hope Heart Institute are co-sponsors. The free event will include dance demonstrations, informational booths, health screenings and music. Spirit of Women promotes dancing as an exercise that can be done by people of any age.
Participants will be able to join Evergreen’s Spirit of Women program for free at the Day of Dance. Members will receive discounts at area merchants and early notification of Spirit events. For more information about Spirit of Women at Evergreen, call (425) 899-2950.
