The Overlake School of Redmond graduated 73 students on June 7, following addresses by student speakers Christina Nordin and Graeme Stockdale, and faculty speaker Benjamin Goldstein.
The combined chamber and concert choirs sang “The Song of Purple Summer,” by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, and the Senior Vocal Ensemble sang “Omnia Sol” (Let Your Heart Be Staid) by Randall Stroope.
Associated Student Body President John Piela presented the 2009 graduates’ gift to the school, a photograph of the class, and the audience watched a video of the class. Head of School Francisco J. Grijalva, Ed.D., Upper School Head Gerald Buhaly and Board of Trustees member Kim Poplawski presented the diplomas. Poplawski, Overlake class of 1979, is also the mother of 2009 senior Danny Poplawski and daughter of longtime Overlake Head of School, R. Dean Palmer.
