Urquhart ‘understands King County and the people who live here’ | Letter to the Editor

I urge everyone to support John Urquhart for King County sheriff. He has spent the last 36 years of his life serving the public as a police officer and has worked in all levels of the sheriff's office. Prior to becoming a full-time police officer, he was a successful small-business owner with more than 60 employees. He knows how to use our tax dollars wisely.

I urge everyone to support John Urquhart for King County sheriff. He has spent the last 36 years of his life serving the public as a police officer and has worked in all levels of the sheriff’s office.

Prior to becoming a full-time police officer, he was a successful small-business owner with more than 60 employees. He knows how to use our tax dollars wisely.

John retired last year, but was urged to run for sheriff by people in all ranks of the sheriff’s office. Under the current leadership, the sheriff’s office has received two devastating audits, lost more than 100 citizen complaints, failed to properly review officer-involved shootings and is facing a $9 million sexual-harassment claim. John has the leadership skills needed to bring accountability back to the sheriff’s office. He understands King County and the people who live here.

On a personal note, I contacted John about a safety issue in my neighborhood some years ago. He was very responsive, supportive and helpful to its resolution. He has always conducted himself with the utmost respect, and I know he’ll make a great sheriff.
