Traffic cameras train us to be good drivers

In answer to the recent letter writer who thinks red light cameras are installed only to generate money, consider this, sir: People who stop on red at a light-controlled intersection generally do not jump the gun by starting out before the light turns green.

They have been “trained” not to start before the light turns green. The “4,500 citizens in two months” who were caught on camera have most likely also been “trained” and will not become repeat offenders if the resulting fine is adequate.

So, eventually everyone will be trained. Hey, the cameras are doing the job intended. The revenue generated is a bonus and most likely some serious accidents will be avoided.
