The members of VFW Post 2995 Troop Support Program want to thank reporter Mary Decker for her informative article on our program.

The public response to Mary’s article was overwhelming. Our auction dinner, held on Oct. 10, was a complete sellout. We raised more than $6,000 for our troops that night. Mary told her readers that we would be collecting for the troops at the Fred Meyer store in Kirkland October 16, 17 and 18. The results of that collection was outstanding. We collected more than $1,700 in cash and checks and more than $28,000 in comfort items for the troops.

We are very fortunate we live in a community that loves and cares and for our troops. Our little 5-pound packages tell our brave warriors they are not forgotten. We have sent more than 6,500 of these packages to our troops. The thank you letters we received from the troops would bring a tear to the eye of anyone who reads them.
