You realize, of course, that Redmond Reporter columnist Andrew Villeneuve was in diapers the last time Lloyd Hara had any real public management duties (Villeneuve column, Sept. 18 issue).
It has been more than 20 years since Lloyd has administered anything more complex than the dinner table. Lloyd is out of touch.
As a Port Commissioner, Lloyd has ZERO administrative duties. Instead, he spends our tax money traveling the world — he was on a junket practically moments after being sworn-in back in 2006.
Let us not forget that Lloyd (and fellow unopposed Commissioner John Creighton) had oversight and review of a massive fraud at the Port and did nothing to stop it — not to mention a sexually explicit e-mail scandal by Port police. Our taxpayer money was squandered and Lloyd Hara either could not or would not do his job. Hara (and Creighton) dodged the bullet on legal indictments for fraud, but that doesn’t make either of them good candidates for public office.
As I see it, Lloyd is looking for a public job that pays better than the $6,000 he makes as a Port Commissioner. Check the record: He was an early candidate for Elections Director in 2008, he was going to run for re-election to the Port Commission (and many of his webpage endorsements are from that time), then switched to Assessor when Scott Noble stepped down. The public feedbag sees Lloyd’s real interest.
But give him credit: his public management experience is only 20 to 40 years old.
We need a County Assessor without the fraud baggage; someone who will stand up for us. We need Bob Rosenberger.
