Goodman misleading with campaign mailer

As a resident of the 45th Legislative District, one of my current representatives is Roger Goodman. I just received a campaign mailer from him in which it states that he “voted to cut more than $3.5 billion to help balance the budget and opposed all sales tax increases.”

As a resident of the 45th Legislative District, one of my current representatives is Roger Goodman.

I just received a campaign mailer from him in which it states that he “voted to cut more than $3.5 billion to help balance the budget and opposed all sales tax increases.”

Yet, Roger Goodman voted for Substitute Senate Bill 6846 — new taxes for Emergency Services. These taxes are charged per phone line, wireless line and even VOIP line. I guess this isn’t a “sales” tax on phone lines!

Roger Goodman voted for Second Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 6143. This measure raises taxes including a convenience store tax on bottled water, soda pop, candy, gum and some beer. It also increases the Business and Occupation tax rate for service businesses such as attorneys and real estate agents. This isn’t a “sales” tax increase? I guess it isn’t if you don’t buy soda pop!

Roger Goodman voted for Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2493. This bill provides for higher taxes on cigarettes. This is only a “sales” tax if you happen to smoke cigarettes!

And, Roger Goodman voted for the Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 6130, suspending I-960, which required a two-thirds majority for raising taxes. The bill also suspended:

• Publication of all tax increases approved; and

• Making it public which legislators voted for tax increases.

I guess Roger doesn’t want us to know when he DOES vote for tax increases in the future!

When will our politicians start being honest with us? Why isn’t the media holding them accountable? I hope you will help me make other residents of the 45th District aware of this hypocrisy!
