As a former co-chair of a Lake Washington School District (LWSD) choice school, and a public education advocate, I am very pleased to endorse Anita Damjanovic for school director.
In my years of volunteering for public schools, it became apparent to me that teachers need a voice in the administration of our schools. Having Anita on the board extends a bridge between the school district and the classroom. With her 13 years of teaching, plus her extensive education and doctorate, she is uniquely qualified to add a distinctly knowledgeable voice on the board that hasn’t been heard before.
With all the changes in public education — from funding, testing, curriculum and technology — what better choice would there be than to add an actual teacher to the Lake Washington board? Anita believes in an equitable education for the whole child — and that includes STEM with all the arts and humanities. She believes and fights for full funding of public schools. We cannot go wrong with Anita Damjanovic.
