When I email my own congresswoman, I get calls back from her DC office. When I phone, I’m thanked politely and sometimes asked followup questions. When I visit, the door is unlocked.
Dave Reichert on the other hand says that opinion calls from the people he’s supposed to represent are “disrupting” his operations. He actually said that meeting them in person would put him “at risk.” Then he refused even to talk to the Seattle Times about his unresponsiveness.
No wonder his elections are tough for him despite being in a gerrymandered district set up to protect him.
Compassion is good, and I hope the 8th District voters will feel sorry for his weakness along with their justified anger. I also hope they get decent representation from his successor.
