Political sign vandalism? Really? Is that the topic Ms. Chen has deemed significant enough to issue a press statement?
What about the challenges facing the City of Redmond’s budget? Sales tax revenue is down, as are employment and business revenues due to the recession.
Property owners have watched values plummet as tax obligations increase; how should the City balance the vision, desires and needs of its residents with those of businesses struggling to survive?
Burdened by budget constraints while being increasingly pressured to meet the core needs of citizens in the areas of public safety; transportation; growth; development; services for seniors, teens and families, one eye must be kept on the larger picture of the City’s goals and another on opportunities to restore, stimulate and shore up existing revenue streams.
Ms. Allen has been an active participant in our community, from the PTSAs to the Planning Commission to the City Council. She has consistently demonstrated that she has the knowledge, experiences, vision, focus, principles, and abilities to set priorities and effectively participate in the work that is needed to tackle the challenges we are facing.
I urge you to join me in re-electing Kim Allen to the Redmond City Council.
Lori Snodgrass, Redmond
