I have been reading all the articles and letters to the editor on the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) levy and one thing comes to mind is the sake of the children.
Regardless, if the LWSD did not use the money they already had wisely, are we now going to punish the children for this? It infuriates me that in all the comments made against the levy, the thought of how this will impact the children is somehow left out. For the parents who send their children to private school really do not have to worry about overcrowded classrooms. It is so easy to say no to the levy to show LWSD that funding in the past was not spent the way it should have, so in return, we are going to punish LWSD and punish the children, as well.
Even the families who do not have children in the LWSD, saying no on the levy will have an effect on them as well. People move into neighborhoods who have good schools. Who would want to buy a nice home, in a nice neighborhood that has a poor school system? NO ONE … that is who! Keep that in mind when one thinks this has no impact on you because it does.
When you say no to the Levy, remember, you are saying no to the children and yes to overcrowding classrooms. These children will be the future leaders in our country someday. I think it is about time we start treating them that way!
