I see another bureaucratic nightmare coming with the state looking into levying a road tax by mile. Unless the oil companies see a way to rake in more profits, eliminating the gas tax will lower the price of gas and will increase consumption because gas is cheaper. On Jan. 23, Harry Castles Chandler of Redmond died at the age of 88.
Chandler was born on Sept. 13, 1924, and was raised in Boston and settled in Seattle in 1963. He served in the European Theater during World War II as a combat infantryman and shared a successful business with his wife.

The first Grizzlies Forensics Invitational is in the books as 16 high schools and 180 students competed on Jan. 25-26 at The Bear Creek School’s campus in Redmond. Participants considered the tournament a success because it ran on time over the course of the two-day event. One coach described the tournament as “the Cadillac of tournaments.” Participation is expected to grow next year, since the comments received from competitors, coaches and judges were positive:
