Redmond native and professional wakeboarder Nick Jones returned to the Northwest during last weekend’s 2011 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour stop in Monroe, but did not advance to the final rounds.

The event, held at Lake Tye, featured the top riders from across the country, including Jones, who lives and trains in Florida.

Phillip Soven won the event, while Canadian Aaron Rathy took second. With the win Soven maintained his lead in the overall tour standings, while Harley Clifford, who finished sixth in Monroe, held onto second place overall, just 10 points behind Soven.

During the Monroe tour stop, Jones finished second in one of his qualifying rounds, 10 points behind Clifford. He did not advance to the final rounds.

After the homecoming weekend for Jones, he sat in 14th place overall in the tour with a total score of 184.

Despite not finishing in the top group, Jones was still excited about competing near his hometown.

“It’s so awesome to have the Pro Tour here in my home state,” said Jones in a press release. “I’ve never been so excited to compete before.”

The tour’s next stop will be in Knoxville, Tennessee Aug. 27-28.
