It was standing-room only at the Three Lions Pub in downtown Redmond Monday afternoon as soccer fans packed the bar to watch Team USA take on Ghana in their first game for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Team USA won 2-1 and the Three Lions crowd — which included people sporting soccer jerseys as well as those in business suits, having come from work — cheered and commiserated together through the ups and downs of the game.

As the match came to a close, one fan lamented that the last 60 seconds was the “longest minute ever” as they watched Team USA work to keep the lead.

Kayla Twigs, a server at Three Lions, said as busy as they were on Monday, they were even busier Saturday afternoon when England played Italy. She said the pub was already full by 2 p.m. for the 3 p.m. game and they had to tell people to go to their two locations in Redmond Ridge and Bothell.
