On Friday, the Rotary Club of Redmond Rousers will host a luncheon auction from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Redmond Marriott Town Center, located at 7401 164th Ave. N.E.

The dictionary project focuses on providing dictionaries to all third graders living within the district, which includes Redmond, Sammamish, Kent, Woodinville, Tukwila, Federal Way, Seattle, Lynnwood and Rainier. The hard-cover Houghton Mifflin dictionaries use pictures and phonics, special language detective and vocabulary builder sections to promote learning.

The Imagine Scholar provides young people in South Africa’s disadvantaged Nkomazi region with personalized education and mentorship at the Imagine Academy. The program aspires to help students such as 15-year-old Promise Magagula do more than just get by, giving them the tools to be the difference makers of their generation and bring lasting change to their communities.

Promise’s dream is to be a doctor, which means almost perfect grades in South Africa — something she has worked hard to achieve. Promise lives with both her parents, who are unemployed, in Schoemansdal, Nkomazi.
