On Jan. 4, Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest in Redmond held a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony to thank the vendors and supporters who helped make the Starlight Playroom at the Redmond Starlight campus possible.

In attendance for their part in this undertaking were James Pedersen of Nintendo, the space provider and benefactor which allowed Starlight to undertake the construction of this room; Matt Bystedt and Matt Elmer from Turner Construction who built the room; Gregg Sherman from Holmes Electric; Mike Quinton from Division 9 who carpeted the room; Kimberly Andersen from Anderson Construction, who built and installed the cabinetry in the room; Dina Alhadeff from ChasinFireflies; and the Gindin family, who provided the furnishings and books for the room.

A plaque was placed at the entrance to the room giving thanks to all, followed by a light reception.

Starlight will use this room to further their mission of helping chronic and terminally ill children and their families by encouragement, experiences and child life therapy and support. The Redmond chapter is the only chapter of this national organization to have such a playroom at their facility. The other playrooms exist only in the hospital settings and members of the Redmond chapter are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to its families to ease their struggle.
