The ARAS Foundation’s 7th annual African Bike Drive will be held April 29 at Sammamish City Hall, 801 228th Ave. S.E.

Bikes and bike part donations will be accepted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or at other prearranged times or locations. The bikes and parts will be shipped to Ghana.

Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. to help prepare the bikes for shipment. Handlebars and seats are lowered and bike pedals are removed in order to conserve space in the shipping container which will be onsite. No bike experience is needed to volunteer.

The ARAS welcomes clubs, families and scout troops to assist by seeking bike donations in their neighborhoods, schools, places of worship and work. Donations are tax deductible. To donate or volunteer call (425) 868 8448 or email mary@arasfoundation.org.

Last year, with the assistance of the Village Bicycle Project organization, ARAS shipped 582 bikes plus bike parts to Ghana and thousands of bikes throughout the years.
