Sammamish teen suffers serious injuries in motorcycle accident

A 17-year-old male from Sammamish was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a tree last Thursday night in Redmond.

A 17-year-old male from Sammamish was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a tree last Thursday night in Redmond.

The male is in serious condition and being treated in the intensive care unit, according to a spokesperson with the Harborview Medical Center.

The crash is being investigated by the Redmond Police Traffic Division, but it is believed that speed was a contributing factor. The posted speed limit on the road is 25 miles per hour.

The Yamaha R6 was traveling on 176th Avenue Northeast at approximately 7:30 p.m. when the driver lost control and hit a tree.

There were no other persons or vehicles involved and the driver was wearing a helmet.
