Sanderson, Farland to visit Borders Books Nov. 6

Author Brandon Sanderson, whose book “The Hero of Ages” has hit number one on the New York Times Bestsellers list, will appear at Borders at Redmond Town Center, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.

Also appearing is his friend and fellow author David Farland, known for the “Runelords” series.

“The Hero of Ages” is the final book in the “Mistborn” epic fantasy trilogy. Critics have praised its skillful blending of many themes — mystery, magic, romance, politics and religion.

Historical Society to meet Nov. 8

The Redmond Historical Society will meet from 10:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 8 at The Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th St. Angie (Aries) Lang and Judy (Aries) Lang will talk about Aries Gardens – “Down on the Farm.”

Their farm operation was located on present-day Willows Run. All are welcome for this free presentation.

Veteran’s Day luncheon

J. Kristian Brekke’s class at Rosa Parks Elementary School invites veterans and their families from the Redmond community to a special Veteran’s Day luncheon in their honor, Friday, Nov. 7 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

The school is located at 22845 NE Cedar Park Crescent, in the Redmond Ridge neighborhood.

Students will decorate the school and perform music, speeches and poetry celebrating the contributions of men and women who have served our country.

Crump earns scholarship

Western Washington University student Chelsea Crump, daughter of James and Susan Crump of Redmond, received a $2,000 Gerson Miller Memorial Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year.
