Grizzlies suffer agonizing double-OT loss | Basketball prep report

In one of the closest basketball games in the program's history, the Bear Creek boys took a tough loss on Friday night in the consolation finals of the Bellevue College Holiday Tournament, losing to Nathan Hale 61-56 in double overtime. The entire game, both teams matched each other shot-for-shot, as there was never more than a one-point difference in score at the end of each quarter.

The entire game, both teams matched each other shot-for-shot, as there was never more than a one-point difference in score at the end of each quarter.

After tying 46-46 at the end of regulation, both teams struggled to find the net, scoring just five apiece, to set up double overtime where Nathan Hale finally got hot, pouring in 10 for the win.

Erik Domas had a monster double-double for the Grizzlies, scoring 19 points and adding 15 rebounds, with Luke Blankenbeckler (12) Gabe Rongve (10) and Jesse Leuenberger (10) also in double digits.

The Grizzlies dropped to 8-2 overall with the loss and take on Lindbergh in another non-league game tonight at 7 p.m.

 

Bear Creek girls fall to Pullman in Santa Slam finals

Playing their last game at the Oak Harbor Santa Slam tournament last Friday, the Bear Creek girls kept it close until the fourth quarter against Pullman, which pulled away late to win 46-35.

The score was 27-25 heading into the final period, with Pullman scoring 19 to the Grizzlies’ 10 down the stretch.

Catherine Fernandez recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Madelyn Magee and Nikki Peterson adding eight each.

The Grizzlies are now 5-5 overall on the season.
