City seeks applicants for Business Tax/Transportation Improvements Advisory Committee

Redmond residents and business representatives based in Redmond are invited to apply for an appointment to the City’s Business Tax/Transportation Improvements (BTTI) Advisory Committee, a group charged with advising the City on special funding for transportation projects and programs.

This committee develops funding recommendations for revenues generated from an annual head tax paid by Redmond businesses. It consists of seven citizens and one ex officio member from the Redmond City Council. Five of those appointed will represent businesses based in Redmond and two residents will be appointed to represent the community at large. Committee members are asked for a four year commitment.

“A background in transportation is not required to apply for this committee,” stated Mayor John Marchione. “We need people interested in helping the city prioritize the projects that continue improvements to Redmond’s transportation system.”

In addition to recommending specific projects and programs for funding, the BTTI Committee will review progress toward the city’s mobility goals, suggest ways to deal with future transportation funding needs and increase community awareness and understanding of citywide transportation issues.

Interested individuals should download a community service application form at www.redmond.gov/insidecityhall/boards.asp or contact the Mayor’s office at (425) 556-2101 for the form.

Mail the completed application and letter of interest to the Office of the Mayor, City of Redmond, PO Box 97010, Redmond, WA 98073-9710 or fax to (425)556-2110. All board, commission and committee members are volunteers.

Applications received by Oct. 30 will be given first consideration; however, applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Interviews will be held during the fall with final appointments confirmed by the end of the year.
