Prep Report: Lady Grizzlies finish strong, stay perfect

The Bear Creek School girls’ basketball team overcame a sluggish start to maintain its perfect season with a 34-25 Sea-Tac 2B league victory against Tacoma Baptist Thursday night.

Trailing 15-13 at halftime, the Grizzlies put together a huge second half, outscoring the Crusaders 21-10, to seal the win.

For the Grizzlies, Maddie Magee and Catherine Fernandez led the way with nine points apiece, with Magee notching six steals and the 6-foot-1 Fernandez grabbing eight rebounds.

Nikki Peterson added seven for Bear Creek, which improved to 8-0 in league and 13-0 overall.

BEAR CREEK BOYS ROUT TACOMA BAPTIST

The visiting Grizzlies came out firing against the Crusaders last night at Tacoma Baptist, scoring 20 points in the first quarter and never looking back in a 67-25 Sea-Tac 2B blowout win.

Freshman guard Luke Blankenbeckler poured in a game-high 20, followed by Ryan Strandin with 12 and Lucas Peterson with 11.

Playing their reserves in the second half, a total of 10 players scored for the Grizzlies, who improved to 8-0 in league play and 13-3 overall.
