Redmond High School senior Courtney Martin has signed to play basketball at NCAA Division II Western Oregon University next fall.
Martin, a 5-foot-11 guard/forward who led the Mustangs with 17.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game last season, is known for her ability to score and make pressure shots.
Martin earned first-team All-Kingco honors as both a junior and senior and is only the second player in school history to score over 1,000 career points.
Deadly from the free throw line, Martin also broke school records during her senior campaign in consecutive free throws made (22), free throws made in a season (103), and season free throw percentage (82.0).
“Courtney is an outstanding all-around player who can play multiple positions,” said Greg Bruce, head coach of the WOU women’s basketball team. “She has a very high basketball IQ and seems to really understand the game. She can flat out score in a variety of ways and is always in the gym working to get better. “
Martin, an excellent student-athlete with a 3.40 GPA who is currently a member of the National Honor Society, plans to major in Criminal Justice at WOU.
