I found Sally Chen’s accusations about damaged signs in the Oct. 9 Redmond Reporter to be unacceptable.
While not outright accusing Councilwoman Allen’s campaign of damaging signs her quote in the article clearly alluded to that. Later when Chen clarified the Reporter’s questions she changed her mind and said “we are not implicating anyone specifically.”
Why did she send the press release in the first place? I believe it was to impart negative publicity on her opponent. A more professional and mature course of action would have been to contact Councilwoman Allen first to voice concerns.
It was mentioned that Chen’s campaign wanted to discuss ‚“differences in opinions” with Allen in public. Yet, when contacted by the Reporter, Chen changed her statement again. Is Ms. Chen not up to the challenge of a public debate? Why not?
I believe the citizens of Redmond have a right to hear from their incumbent and her opponent before making a decision that will affect our town for years to come.
