Parchman leads Emerald City gymnastics at Junior Olympic Championships

Ten-year-old Redmond girl Anna Parchman claimed a third straight state title at last weekend’s Level 5/6 Junior Olympic Championships at Bellevue’s Sammamish High School.

Ten-year-old Redmond girl Anna Parchman claimed a third straight state title at last weekend’s Level 5/6 Junior Olympic Championships at Bellevue’s Sammamish High School.

Anna, an Alcott Elementary School student, led a contingent of eight state champions for Redmond-based Emerald City Gymnastics, which won the Level 6 team crown with a score of 112.8 and placed second in the Level 5 competition with 191.150 points.

Anna’s all-around score of 38.00 in the Junior B division was the highest for all competitors in Level 6 categories. She racked up three first-place finishes in the beam (9.75), floor (9.75) and bar (9.30). She placed fourth in the vault with a score of 9.2.

Other Level 6 Emerald City state title winners were Mya Levin (36.475 overall score, Junior D division) and Anna Yost (36.975, Senior B).

Emerald City had five state champions in the Level 5 competition: Victoria Zaitsev (37.750, Senior A), Sophie Teasell (38.550, Junior D), Madeline Hunt (37.800, Youth B), Courteney Hori (37.850, Youth C) and Carmen Arnold (38.125 all-around score, Child A division).
