WSDOT to close SR 520 floating bridge early Thursday morning

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) bridge crews will perform monthly maintenance on the State Route (SR) 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge early Thursday morning. Maintenance openings of the bridge drawspan begin Thursday, Aug. 12 at 12:30 a.m. They will end at 5 a.m.

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) bridge crews will perform monthly maintenance on the State Route (SR) 520 Evergreen Point floating bridge early Thursday morning.

Maintenance openings of the bridge drawspan begin Thursday, Aug. 12 at 12:30 a.m. They will end at 5 a.m. During this time, drivers can expect the bridge to be closed to traffic for up to 30 minutes at a time. Crews will conduct monthly safety checks and test the bridge drawspan to ensure proper working order.

Drivers will be alerted to possible delays by electronic signals on highways that lead to the bridge. Traffic conditions on the bridge can be monitored at www.wsdot.wa.gov/Traffic/seattle.

The annual weekend closure of SR 520 is just 10 days away. The weekend closure will run from 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23. Crews plan to complete the maintenance and inspections that weekend and drivers should plan extra time to take alternate routes.
