Four local soccer teams advance to regionals

Four Redmond-area youth soccer teams have advanced to the Region IV West Championships in Lancaster, Calif. from June 15-21 after winning the U.S. Youth Soccer Washington State Championships in their respective divisions last month.

Four Redmond-area youth soccer teams have advanced to the Region IV West Championships in Lancaster, Calif. from June 15-21 after winning the U.S. Youth Soccer Washington State Championships in their respective divisions last month.

Crossfire Premier teams B96-A (U12 boys), B92-A (U16 boys), G91-A (U17 girls) and G90 (U18 girls) will be competing with 250 of the top squads in U.S. Youth Soccer representing 14 state associations for the regional title.

The other West associations in attendance are Alaska, Arizona, California (North), Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming.

The tournament will kick off with round-robin matches on Monday and contine through Wednesday, with playoffs beginning Friday, June 19 and concluding with the championship games on Sunday, June 21.

Regional winners earn a prestigious berth into the 2009 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships held July 21-26 at Citizen’s Bank Field at Progin Park in Lancaster, Mass.

U.S. Youth Soccer is the largest youth sports organization in the country and the largest member of the United States Soccer Federation. The group registers more than 3 million players annually from ages 5-19, as well as over 900,000 coaches, volunteers and administrators representing 55 state associations across the country.
