Eileen Allen, 92, will be speaking at Emerald Heights life care community in Redmond from 2 to 3 p.m. on March 29 about staying active in life despite physical setbacks.
“Choosing Happiness,” presented by the Northwest Center for Creative Aging, will have Allen speaking about how she is still trying new things to get the most out of life. Having had to deal with tough decisions due to significant mobility, hearing and vision loss, Allen will discuss how to successfully make adaptations that enrich one’s life, not lessen it. Allen’s book, “I like Being Old” will also be available for purchase after the talk for $15, cash or check.
The event is free, but guests are asked to RSVP to Jan Frederick at jan@nwcreativeaging.org or (206) 382-3789. Emerald Heights is located at 10901 176th Circle N.E. in Redmond.
The center also offers Conversations on Creative Aging, small, facilitated group discussions that explore what it means to grow older in a creative, meaningful and purposeful way. The conversations give older people the opportunity to have meaningful and intentional dialog around subjects that are important to them, but often not easily discussed.
