Prep Report: Harrington pours in 31 as Mustangs tame Cougars

The two hot-shooting stars were on fire all night, with Lavine pouring in 27 and Harrington scoring 31. The Mustangs put together a big 26-point fourth quarter, propelling them to victory.

Peter Hendron added 11 for the Mustangs, and Conner Floan had nine.

With the win, the Mustangs improved to 2-0 overall on the year.

REDMOND GIRLS BLAZE PAST BOTHELL

The Lady Mustangs put together four solid quarters of play in a 65-49 win over Bothell High in a 4A Kingco contest Monday night.

Redmond led 37-29 at the half and extended the lead to 16 points going into the fourth quarter.

Stacey Kimball led all scorers with 17 points, followed by Jordyn Ohrt with 10, as nine different players scored for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs improved to 2-0 overall and take on rival Eastlake Friday night at home. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.

BEAR CREEK’S SCORING SPREE LEADS TO WIN OVER OWLS

Led by six players in double-digits, The Bear Creek School boys’ basketball team put up a mammoth first half en-route to a 89-56 season-opening win over the Overlake Owls in an all-Redmond showdown last Saturday afternoon at Bear Creek.

The home team led 54-27 at the break and had no trouble holding on for the win.

The Grizzlies were led by 6-foot-6 forward Ryan Strandin with 18, followed by Luke Blankenbeckler with 16 and Jesse Leuenberger with 14. The Owls’ Dean Poplawski poured in 18, followed by Grant Munoz with nine.

LADY GRIZZLIES ROUT YESHIVA

The Bear Creek School girls’ basketball team coasted to a 49-31 non-league win after a staunch Grizzly defense held Northwest Yeshiva scoreless in the second quarter Monday night at The Bear Creek School.

For the Grizzlies, freshman Catherine Fernandez led the team with 14, followed by Morgan Rial with 12.

Bear Creek and new head coach Greg Cheever improved to 2-0 with the win.
