Redmond’s Family Resource Center has announced that it has changed its name to Together Center.
One of the first non-profit, multi-tenant centers in the nation, Together Center was designed to give people a “one-stop” center where they could find a wide variety of human service organizations in the same convenient location.
Together Center’s 20th anniversary will be celebrated at an open house from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, p.m., at its campus, 16225 NE 87th St., Suite A-5 in Redmond.
Live music, food, tours of agencies throughout the campus, children’s art displays and stories from the unique center will be offered.
Twenty heroes will be honored at the event with a short program at 4 p.m.
“As we celebrate our 20th year of creating access to human services and begin the work of the next decades, we want to better tell our story,” explained executive director Pam Mauk.
“The Family Resource Center name is now found everywhere, used for all manner of services, organizations and program sites, both locally and nationally. This had led to ongoing confusion concerning our services and role. After several years of board planning, we are pleased to announce that we are changing our name to Together Center.”
Mauk noted that the name is drawn from the mission and work of the center.
“We create access to human services, so people can find help when they need it,” said Mauk. “We are able to help in a hundred ways, thanks to working together.”
Use of the center jumped to more than 67,000 East King County residents last year, who found support from 18 agencies on the center’s unique human services campus and other resources provided by Together Center.
Major agencies on the campus include Hopelink, Sound Mental Health, Friends of Youth, HealthPoint, Youth Eastside Services, Habitat for Humanity and many more.
Community members are invited to the Together Center anniversary celebration on Sept. 24. For more information, call (425) 869-6699 or visit www.togethercenter.org.
