The City of Redmond Planning Commission is continuing its public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 in the City Hall Council Chambers, 15670 NE 85th St.
The topic of the hearing is green building and natural stormwater management techniques in new residential developments.
All are encouraged to provide oral testimony at the hearing; however, written testimony may be submitted in advance, if attendance is not possible.
City staff members are proposing incentives for the use of green building and natural stormwater management techniques. The proposal is designed to be consistent with Redmond residents’ support for initiatives to preserve the natural environment, and especially Redmond’s streams and forests. The proposal would replace the existing Planned Residential Development (PRD) and Clustering provisions of the Redmond Community Development Guide.
In July, the city hosted a community open house attended by more than 40 people.
City staff learned what green building and stormwater techniques participants felt were important, and what incentives they felt would be appropriate.
The proposal being brought forward to the Planning Commission incorporates feedback from that open house and from other opportunities for public input.
The Planning Commission began review of this proposal in October 2008, and opened a public hearing on Oct. 22.
