Despite tying for 4A Kingco’s best record with an 8-2 record and 24 points, the Redmond soccer team does not have a chance at winning the Kingco championship because it loses the tiebreaker with Juanita for the Mountain Division crown.
The Lake Division representative in the Kingco championship game will be Eastlake, which finished the regular-season league schedule with a 7-3 record and 21 points.
Because Redmond didn’t get one of the top two seeds, it will have tow in two straight loser-out games to earn a spot to the Class 4A state tournament, as opposed to having three straight winner-to-state games.
Redmond did end the regular season on the seven-game winning streak following a 5-2 victory against Garfield on Tuesday. Ian Scheibe had three assists. Danny Gallagher, Riley Gallagher, Ryan Armantrout, Nick Funaro and Bryan Williams all scored goals.
Lake Washington assured itself of a playoff spot by defeating Bothell 3-0 on Wednesday. Lake Washington, who had lost four straight at one point, went 3-0-1 to close out the season and grabbed the fifth seed with a 5-4-1 record and 16 points.
The 4A Kingco playoffs start Saturday. Kingco gets two guaranteed state bids, and the third team travels to play a team from the Greater St. Helens League near Vancouver for a state berth.
