In the top of the seventh inning, with the scored tied, 3-3, the Mustangs had the go-ahead run on at second base. But Snider struck Mustang slugger Michael Conforto out on three pitches to give the Spartans a chance to win.

In the bottom of the inning, the Spartans’ Weston Blackburn reached on an infield single, followed by a bloop single by Connor Gilchrist. A failed pick-off attempt put a Spartan on third, and sophomore Matt Sinatro came through with a walk-off sacrifice fly to right field.

Redmond’s only extra-base hit was off the bat of Peyton Lutz, with Cody Beliel, Colin McBride and Zach Abbruzza each notching hits in the loss. Conforto tied the game at 3-3 on a sacrifice fly of his own in the fifth inning.

Redmond dropped to 10-2 in league play and 13-5 overall, and will take on Newport (8-3, 13-4) this afternoon at 4 p.m. at Newport High School.

Mustangs handcuffed by No. 1 Woodinville

Woodinville’s Keelin Davis shut down the Redmond High fastpitch team as the top-ranked Falcons beat the Mustangs, 7-0, in a 4A Kingco matchup Tuesday.

Senior Christine Ho was the only Redmond batter to get a hit as the Mustangs were shut out for the first time this season.

The Mustangs, who dropped to 4-3 in league play and 7-4 overall, take on Ballard tonight at 6 p.m. at Hartman Park.

Mustang soccer battles to draw with Inglemoor

The Redmond High and Inglemoor soccer teams were locked in a defensive battle on Tuesday night at Redmond High School in a 4A Kingco soccer match, ending in a 1-1 draw.

Early in the second half Inglemoor’s Justin Li scored on a Mehron Abdi assist, and two minutes later the Mustangs scored the equalizer as Jose Ocampo fed Andrew Leadbeater in the 45th minute to close the scoring.

With the tie, Redmond remained in the middle of the conference pack at 3-3-1 (7-4-1).

Grizzlies beat Crosspoint at Twin Rivers

Playing in a 2B Sea-Tac League matchup at Twin Rivers Golf Course on Tuesday, the Grizzlies defeated Crosspoint Academy 204-228.

Will Stansell shot a fine 1-over-par round of 35 to medal, with Gannon McCahill and Ricky Olson contributing with rounds of 40.
