On Tuesday afternoon at The Overlake School, the lady Owls had no trouble against Northwest School, winning the 1A Emerald City League contest 3-1.
For the Owls, sophomore Quinn Phillips scored in the third minute off an assist from Adrianna Gildner, and the 51st minute Gildner and Phillips assisted Caroline Roush on a corner kick that Roush tapped past the Northwest goalkeeper.
Finally, in the 57th minute Gildner hammered home the Owls’ final goal on a feed from Phillips.
With the win, the Owls improved to 6-2 in league play and 8-2 overall.
BEAR CREEK GIRLS COME FROM BEHIND AGAINST CROSSPOINT
The Grizzlies scored twice in the last 10 minutes of play on Tuesday night at home to stun the Crosspoint Warriors 4-3 in a Sea-Tac 2B league matchup.
Halle Coleman scored in the sixth minute, assisted by Jenny Price, for the only goal of the first half.
But then the action got wild, as Crosspoint scored three times in the next fifteen minutes while the Grizzlies were only to notch one score, Morgan Rial’s shot from Caroline Bridgwater, giving the Warriors a 3-2 lead.
In the 70th minute, it was Coleman again coming up big with the equalizer from Danielle Isbell, and with just under two minutes remaining Rial scored for the second time off Jenny Price’s second assist for the game-winner.
With the win, Bear Creek improved to 4-1-0 (4-3-3 overall).
REDMOND GOLFERS TAME TOUGH INGLEWOOD
Playing on the road, the Mustang boys’ golf team handily defeated Inglemoor High at Inglewood Golf Club in Kenmore Tuesday afternoon, 195-214.
Oliver Rudnicki medaled for Redmond, firing an even-par 37, followed by Charlie Mroz and Cole Helgeson who both carded 2-over 39s. Kyle Allar was low man for the Vikings, tying Lyle Rudnicki with a score of 40.
GARFIELD TENNIS TOPS REDMOND
The Mustangs, playing on the road at Amy Yee Tennis Center, fell to the Bulldogs 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Highlights for Redmond included Matt Lee, playing at No. 3 singles, defeating Shogo Makino in a 7-6, 7-6 thriller, and the doubles team of Johnson Hsieh and Dhruv Balakinshnan beating Josh Markowitz and Jack Yates in three games 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
