The win advanced the Owls to the quarterfinal round of the Division II playoffs for a Friday matchup with Garfield at 5 p.m. at The Overlake School.

The win was the first postseason victory for Overlake since capturing the Division II state title in 2009.Overlake (12-1-0) was led by sophomore attackman Colton Umberger with five goals, two assists and six ground balls and junior midfielder Eric Risa with two goals, three assists and 16 ground balls.

Lake Sammamish advances to semifinals

Lake Sammamish advanced to within one win of the Washington Lacrosse Girls State Championship game with a 17–9 quarterfinal victory over Snohomish last Thursday at Marymoor Park in Redmond.

Claire Monsaas led all scorers for Lake Sammamish with four goals and four assists, while Allison Clements also had four goals.

The win over Snohomish sets up a Tuesday semifinal matchup against Lakeside at 4:30 p.m. at the Lakeside Upper School in Seattle.

It is the second trip to the semifinals since 2010 for Lake Sammamish, which is making its sixth post season appearance in the past seven years.

Lake Sammamish, the first place finishers in the Snoqualmie Conference, eased ahead in the first to take a 6–3 half-time lead over Snohomish before unleashing 11 second-half goals en route to their 12th win of the season.

The win was the second of the season for Lake Sammamish over Snohomish. Lake Sammamish won the first contest 15–14 on April 27.
