Nearly 100 volunteers from Eastside Audubon and Comcast joined forces to put the smack down on invasive Himalyan blackberry bushes at the Marymoor Park bird loop Saturday.

Volunteers cleared out the thorny bushes and then laid down mulch to prevent further blackberry growth as part of the Comcast Cares program.

The work by the volunteers — all doning green Comcast Cares t-shirts — was vital because the “work will ensure the survival of native plants that Eastside Audubon has installed to improve habitat for birds and wildlife at Marymoor Park,” according to an Eastside Audubon press release.
