The bats came alive for the Redmond High School fastpitch team as the Mustangs derailed much-improved Garfield, 11-1, Monday night in 4A Kingco fastpitch contest in Redmond.
Garfield scored first, with an RBI double down the left-field line, but Redmond countered in the third with the equalizer on team co-captain Jenny Eisenmann’s line drive double to center that scored Christine Ho.
The Mustangs then went on to score 10 unanswered runs, with aggressive baserunning creating many close plays at the plate.
Starter Melissa White went the distance in the shortened game, striking out 10, while allowing just three hits.
On offense, Ho went 2-for-2, both doubles, and also walked twice, and White helped her own cause by going 2-for-3.
The Mustangs next play at Newport on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. as their schedule makeup game against Lake Washington for Tuesday night has been postponed for a fourth time due to wet field conditions.
