This Earth Month, Staples on Redmond Way, is collecting three-ring binders in partnership with TerraCycle, Inc., a recycler and upcycler of traditionally non-recyclable goods.
Customers can bring any binder into the store for recycling and receive $2 off the purchase of a new binder. The discount must be applied on the same day the binder is recycled. There are no limits on the number of binders or brands that can be recycled but no more than $2 will be discounted off any new binder.
“This Earth Month, Redmond residents can come together in support of keeping their community clean and helping the environment by recycling what would normally end up in the local landfill,” Megan Yarnall, TerraCycle, Inc. senior publicist said in a email to the Reporter.
TerraCycle also runs free, local fundraising programs in Redmond and across Washington. Schools and community organizations can sign up to recycle non-recyclables with TerraCycle, including drink pouches, chip bags, pens, tape dispensers, wine pouches, and candy wrappers.
For every item they sent in, students earn money towards their school or a charity of their choice. In Redmond, Horace Mann Elementary collects non-recyclables to earn money for their school.
