City seeks Human Services Commission candidates

Redmond residents interested are encouraged to apply by Dec. 31

Redmond is seeking candidates for its Human Services Commission. Individuals must live or work within city limits and be interested in a broad spectrum of human service issues, including basic needs, health care, counseling, domestic violence and family support.

The commission’s role is to advise the mayor and council on general human services issues and to make specific funding recommendations as part of the city’s budget process every two years.

According to a press release from the city, desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in the issues, a willingness to learn and a passion for working to strengthen the city’s effectiveness in addressing these issues. Please note that individuals who work for or serve on the board of directors of a human service agency delivering services to city residents are not eligible for consideration.

The seven-member commission meets on the second Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Council Conference Room, Redmond City Hall. With the suspension of the Open Public Meetings Act, meetings are currently held virtually. All board and commission members are volunteers.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m., Dec. 31. Positions remain open until filled.
