King County has launched Smart911, an effort to allow citizens to create a safety profile with their own secure personal information, including primary language, medical, disability and more.

Smart911 will soon be available to all King County 911 centers and emergency responders when citizens call 911.

“With Smart911, people can put critical personal information in their safety profile associated with their various phone numbers,” said City of Redmond Mayor John Marchione.

Smart911 is a supplemental data service that allows people to register in advance any and all of their phones — landline, wireless or VOIP. They can also add addresses associated with that phone number. They can do the same for work, school or cell phones as well. Citizens can register their whole family.

Marchione added, “Redmond is proud to have served as the first test site for the newly announced King County Smart911 program. Partnering with King County will ensure the best possible citizen 911 service based on the latest technology available.”
