The Redmond Historical Society will host its annual picnic from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 12 at Anderson Park, 7802 168th Ave. NE. All community members are welcome.
Members Fran and Fred Stray and Cheryl Magnuson will provide a soft serve ice cream machine and grill. Bring your own burgers, hot dogs or other favorite picnic food. The society will provide plates and drinks.
At the picnic, the 2010 History Hero Award will be given to Brad Best for his longtime support.
“Brad Best was one of our earliest financial supporters. He is a lifetime member of Redmond Historical and contributed funds to help us publish our Redmond Reflections book,” said society president Chris Himes.
“He is a great steward of the Redmond State Bank Building, having had his realty office there since 1955. He has taken extra care of that building which is one of the sites on the Redmond Walking Tour,” Himes added.
“Brad has shared us with his vast archives on Redmond real estate history and was also a presenter to our group a few years ago,” she said.
In addition, the Redmond Historical Society’s next walking tour of historic downtown Redmond locations is scheduled from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 20.
Tours begin at the Justice White House, 7730 Leary Way. An $8 fee helps to fund the historical society’s research. Tours will not be held if it rains.
