Dr. James Henry Thaidigsman (Jim) passed away from dementia and related medical problems in Redmond, WA on March 18, 2019. He was nearly 88 years old. A service will be held in his honor at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Redmond, WA on April 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will be held at the church following the service.
Jim was born to Mary Hannan and John Henry Thaidigsman on June 20, 1931 in Riverside, New Jersey. Jim had three older sisters who preceded him in passing. He received his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College in 1953 and graduated from medical school at Temple University in 1957. From 1958-1960, Jim served in the US Navy as the ship’s doctor aboard the USS Pine Island. He later became the co-founder of the Center for Human Genetics located in Bar Harbor, Maine. Jim also held a patent for diagnostic medical devices in Obstetrics and was Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Washington.
Jim, also known as ‘Doc’, was an avid sailor who enjoyed racing and cruising with family and friends. After many years, he retired in 1994 from Group Health Cooperative Central in Seattle, Washington. Jim is survived by his wife, Paulie, six children (the seventh child preceded him in passing), and five grandchildren.
