In his Feb. 8 letter to the editor, a 13-year-old kid writes totally false information about Emerald Heights, where I live.
I wonder what really is bugging Abbey Road homeowners’ association and whoever gave him the misinformation. Abbey Road is spending tens of thousands of dollars to try to stop construction of the assisted living building at Emerald Heights. There is not an official greenbelt (neighbors worry) and many additional trees will be planted.
The building is attractive and will be visible to few houses. I have faith the hearing examiner will say yes to the building permit. But neighbors can appeal via the courts. The years of delay will cost us many millions in higher construction costs.
My point is elderly housing is urgently needed.
Redmond is growing fantastically fast. And NIMBY is a well-known community problem from residents who oppose any change. NIMBY= Not in my backyard! I challenge the 13-year-old letter writer to look at the building plans, the architecture and landscaping plans. As for the Reporter printing this misinformation disguised as a letter to the editor — I am disappointed. Please, let’s work together for accurate news coverage.
