Stinky Spoke in Redmond is reset for March 9

The event has been postponed due to inclement weather.

The annual Stinky Spoke bike ride has been moved from Feb. 9 to March 9, due to unsafe weather conditions.

The local mountain bike ride held on a day with typically the “stinkiest” weather of the year, was last held in January 2018. With hundreds of riders participating each year, Stinky Spoke is a highly popular, sometimes rain-driven ride, according to a press release.

While 2018 was going to be the ride’s final year, the Rotary Club of Redmond took over production, the release states.

The 19-plus-mile ride route through Redmond will include a climb along the Tolt Pipeline known for its “Heart Attack Hill,” a 300-foot climb, according to the release.

The poker ride feature returns as well. Playing cards are collected at stops on the route, with each rider hoping to have the poker hand good enough at the end to win a prize.

Riders will receive a Stinky Spoke beanie, pint glass and drink ticket.

New this year: the ride will launch from Redmond City Hall campus, where the after-party will take place in a big tent with Post Doc beer and entertainment by the band Massy Ferguson.

Registration cost is now $55. Registration and more information is available at stinkyspoke.net.

All proceeds will assist the Redmond Rotary to support nonprofit efforts at in Redmond and around the world. More than $1million has been raised by the club over the last decades to support critical efforts, such as well development and hygiene in Ethiopia, programs for youth, low-income people and special needs in Redmond and polio eradication worldwide, the release states.

Redmond Rotary is a nonprofit leadership organization and a member of Rotary International. All are welcome to visit the weekly meetings. Learn more at www.redmondrotary.org.
