Redmond Mustangs senior 220-pound wrestler Alex Folta prides himself in being in top notch physical condition.
Folta displayed his endurance in the 4A KingCo 220-pound championship match against Bothell’s Walker Hardan. Folta pinned Hardan with just 32 seconds left in the third and final round, earning an individual KingCo title on Feb. 2 at North Creek High School.
“I manage to last until the third round against all of my opponents. That is really my tactic because I know I’m in better shape and I have better endurance than everybody else in the 220 weight class. I do everything my coach tells me to do. After I practice I even run 1-2 miles. It all really helps,” Folta said.
Folta, who finished in second place in the KingCo tourney last season, was glad to capture first place.
“It feels really good to win finally. Now I just want to at least place at the state tournament. That is my goal now,” he said.
